"The base Fiat 500X Pop is available with the 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine with an output of 160 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. The MultiAir Turbo is matched to a six-speed manual transmission. Optional is a 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir2 engine that produces 180 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque, paired exclusively to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 500X Pop is available only in front-wheel-drive. "

That means the Pop was Optioned out to the max, lol, which means they chose the auto9speed/2.4 multiair NA package.

I think this configuration may end up being a bit of a unicorn. Putting the auto trans in the Pop raises the price of the Pop to nearly the base price of the Easy, which has the auto anyway and a higher level of equipment.

So the base 500X has an Abarth engine? Nice!

A 500X Easy is only another $800. That's got to be tempting... That's why they call it Easy. Just a little more $$ for more equipment.

Thread hijack in progress...after reading the first sentence this is all I could think of...

The guys over at tflcar.com really liked the peppy nature of the Pop with the manual. Hard to justify it though since it's so thoroughly decontented and AWD is not that much more.

I think the Pop exists only to lower the base price and sell something to the Quebecois.

Funny you say that, the Canadian build and price is up.

1.4 turbos with manuals can be optioned up in Canada! Pop, Sport or Trekking can be had with a stick!

That means 18's, sunroof, upgraded audio, three mode dynamic control selector, nav, etc. I'm jealous of Canada. No AWD though, unfortunately.

It looks like they can also get options individually instead of as a package.

I read an article once about how the major car companies dislike doing business in Quebec because the people there are notoriously tight. They will only buy cars if they are poverty spec - no AC, crank windows, etc. For most companies the real profit is in the options.
