She was a great lady and true racer and fantastic journalist and personality. The world of racing and the auto industry in general will miss her wonderful spirit and never ending stories. She was one of the true greats!

I had the opportunity to meet her at the Fiat 500 press drive. As is usual at these events, I'm the last one back so by the time I have lunch most of the other media types have left for the hotel bar. Not wanting to sit by myself like a bump on a log, I saw she was sitting with another journalist and a Fiat engineer so I mustered up some courage, introduced myself and joined the conversation. I had grown up reading her work so it was a big deal for me. She was very warm and friendly as we chatted over lunch. She related this story: While riding in the 500 with fellow journalists; all were trying to come up adjectives to describe the car when she closed her eyes and was struck that it felt BMW like. The others agreed...

Later that day, I mentioned her observation to Laura Soave and we smiled. Meeting Denise McCluggage was one of the highlights of that special day that I'll always remember. Godspeed to her...
