First, we started with small aesthetics on the interior. We installed Custom Made Italian Leather Floor Mats.

We have already made a few changes such as the custom powder coated 17" Orange Magneti Marelli Wheels on Yokohama S-Drive tires.

These wheels come from Magneti Marelli in two finishes, Satin Black Finish or Two-Tone Black Diamond finish.

Should you ever feel the need, we offer complete powder coating to all our customers as well.

What was the impact to range, or miles/kWh with going to a 17" wheel? I've been thinking to upgrade to 16" not sure I want to go to 17" because I use most of my existing range on my commute... but I'm also not a fan of the stock 'e' wheels...

whatever you do... if you want range... get thin (as in not wide) "low rolling resistance" tires. trust me. I drove this:

As much as we would love to give you an exact answer, we cannot. There are many factors that would effect your range, or miles/kWh i.e., The road conditions, your average speed, your acceleration and deceleration techniques, etc. We drive this car locally, 5 to 10 miles at a time.

We have not noticed a significant difference, but there is some. We did notice improved handling, stopping, and acceleration in comparison to the factory tires and wheels. Bear in mind, the factory wheels were manufactured & chosen for economy reasons and to maximize range.

With factory tires and wheels we noticed more squealing under heavy acceleration, longer traveling distance when braking, the handling was not as optimal, so when we upgrade all those factors improved - but there is a trade-off. We wish we could give you a more exact answer, but we can't - there's just too many variables.

We will be testing several suspension options that allow us to lower the ride of the car, improve the handling while still retaining a relatively comfortable ride.

We now have it dialed in and have put a new set of custom springs for the 500e in to production. They will offer a nice drop yet retain a decent ride and improve the handling.

This weekend, we installed the DNA Racing Component's Top Mounts:

Those of you that are 500e owners, may have already noticed that none of the Cargo Area Covers available fit your 500e properly. That is because the rear trunk/boot area of the 500e is shaped differently than the regular 500 models.

We at MADNESS decided to design and manufacture a Cargo Area Cover specifically for the 500e. We have had it available for several months now and it has proven to be a very popular item.

Now that we've got a 500e of our own, it was only natural that we installed one into it. Below you can see a couple of photos of the 500 MADNESS Cargo Area Cover and a link for more information.

Trunkout,
I am not worried about increasing range, just not negatively impacting range too much. There are some nice wheels for sale locally on craigslist, but they are 8" wide, and I know I don't want to go that wide (or as wide as the rubber needed for an 8" rim), so I already know I'm not buying those.
Thin, low rolling resistance - your comment made me think about the i3 I saw on the road the other day and I immediately thought about them being rubber-wrapped wagon wheels (155/60/20) :)
Madness,
I wasn't expecting any exact impact on range, I know you are also making other changes that might also impact range, but I was hoping for at least some idea. Probably not going to get even an inkling from 5-10 mile drives. Oh well, no harm in asking, right? :)

ANY change you make to stock tires BESIDES going thinner, LRR tires will negatively impact range.
That's my point.

How much lower does it make the car? I already scrape here and there. I wonder if this will make it super hard to drive around LA.

Thanks

I had been asking the owner about that as well, he began explaining it to me when he suddenly just stopped and said "You know what, let's go for a ride!"

500 MADNESS as most of you know is right in the middle of what some what may call a small industrial area in Signal Hill. There's quite a few rough roads, dips, construction and even some nice roads. Let's just say we took her for a spin with some enthusiasm and the only thing I could hear were the tires searching for traction on initial acceleration and my phone going off as I received text messages :naughty: - This vehicle is incredibly quiet right out of the box, but even after lowering it close to 2" there is no scraping. We haven't experienced any bottoming out, scraping or anything along those lines.

Hope that helps biggrinparty

My car is SCREAMING for some nice black wheels.

What are my options for remounting same tires on better looking wheels?

Next would be a combo of wheels and tires at a moderate price. I am looking for a cosmetic change.

I already have a car that eats through $1800 tires every other month. No. I am not joking. LOL.

What would look good on my car? Range isn't an issue for me.

Have you looked into putting Plasti-Dip on your rims to make them black?

Sorry we took so long to respond DaveN007, we had to pick ourselves back up off the ground after you said you were running through $1800 tires every other month! :jaw: As far as remounting the same tires, are you still on the factory 15 inch wheels? If you are, I would highly recommend just going up 1-2 inches to a "16 or "17.

Another option - If it's easier, give us a call at 888-993-7552 and speak with our Sales Manager Joseph at extension 108 or shoot him an an email JReyes@MADNESSAutoworks.com.

They would look like a black disc. But good suggestion.

Will do.

My Z06 has seen a lot of track days since I got it. SuperSports and Cup2s last 4-5 days. I need to move to slicks or decide which child doesn't get to go to college.

How much does a setup like that cost with install? I live fairly close to signal hill. I just worry I can't make it back home after I get down there. haha I'm coming from Arcadia area.

That's a good question! We are aiming to keep the price of the new 500e Lowering Springs very close the rest of our Lowering Spring's price point, prices should range between $250-$350. We will have more exact figures for you in the next few weeks as the Lowering Springs come out of production.

Drop us a line 888-993-7552 ext. 108 & speak with Joseph, or shoot him an email at JReyes@MADNESSAutoworks.com, matter of fact - You live pretty close by, so just pay us a visit whenever you want!

Hello, did you ever release a lowering kit? Thanks!
