Just purchased a 2015 Abarth (love it)!
I noticed the coolant just below the min line. I went to the local dealer to pick a gallon just to have
Part #68104494aa and it not purple it's orange/red. Brought it back and he told me the purple oat is part# 68163849aa. What should I do?

cheers

Soo... he does not have any 68163849aa to sell you !??
There's eBay & Amazon, they have retail listings..

He does have it, but I'm a bit confused because his computer shows part #68104494aa to be the correct fluid. Which is also oat.

If it is slightly below the full mark you can just use distilled water. I did that with mine and I haven't had to refill it at all. 15k miles so far.

JUST took mine in to Fiat for the FIRST time (bought used with 12k miles) and one of the things I had them do was check that coolant because I noticed it was below minimum. They indeed filled it to just between the min and max. Also... the tech told me they use a "special kind of coolant" and make sure EVERYONE uses the correct kind because this little engine runs hot!!! I would triple check that purple stuff mines definitely orange!

Apparently 2013 and up changed coolant to oat (purple). The old fluid was orange hoat.
So confusing.

Interesting. I know that since the dawn of time, essentially - Chryslers always came with reddish coolant. That's what's in my 2012 Lounge and what was in my 2002 Wrangler.

Did Chrysler switch to purple as their OEM standard or is it just for FIAT or model specific to the 500?

It appears that it's both Fiat and Chrysler that went to purple coolant.

I plan to add Red Line's Water Wetter to my Abarth soon:

Technically, it works best with distilled water and not antifreeze but I'm planning just to top it off until I find time to switch out to a full water/water wetter 50-50 mix.

These cars run hot so I'm pretty sure it will make a difference.

This is what I use to top off my coolant.
