On the outside, the roof is all black. But on the inside, there are two separate glass roofs, with their own shades! I believe only the front will open.

And I'm thinking the back shade is manually operated. Not sure.

I like this idea of the two separate glass roof areas and shades. Notice also it has the side lamps in the upper handles. So each side in the back seat has their own light. I'm guessing those are lights and not just holes. haha

I'm also loving the interior photo right before the glass roofs. It's a cloth interior, the edges are brown, grey piping, and what might be black or super dark brown in the middle. Plus brown on the doors. Very niiiiiiice looking. I think I like it better than the all-brown leather/vinyl. But it would need to pass the cat hair test.

I'm going to ask a dumb question. It has keyless entry. And there is the image of the keyless ignition, it's a button. So, does the car have a key at all? A metal key? Or just a battery fob. And you can never get into your car without it?

It will have a key, normally hidden in the fob in case the battery dies. You have to have the keyfob as it transmits to the car to allow you in.

But where does the key GO?

But where does the key GO?

In your pocket. The ignition senses the key when it is close and you use the button to start.

My wife has a Honda Crosstour that uses the keyless system and a start/stop button. It's a great system. You just leave the fob in your pocket or pocketbook (for the ladies) and it senses when you're next to the door and will allow you to pull the handle to get into the car. When you get out of the car, just push a button on the door handle or push the lock button on the fob to lock the car. I wish that my 2014 Abarth had this feature.

The key is only used to unlock doors in case the battery in the fob dies. To start the car with a dead fob battery, you hold the fob against the start button.

Hey Andree all great points. I also noticed the separate sunshade for the rear glass panel, could not see the front shade. Am certain it works just like the rear one. More than likely they are manually operated roller shades. After the many problems with the power shades on the 500L it's no surprise they decided to make a simpler set of shades for the 500X. Have seen a picture of the roof open on the 500X, opens just like the 500L roof does. Now if they would just offer this roof of their upcoming Jeep Renegade then they would have a real winner.

Hey Andree now that they have the build and price up on their web site you can now see a much better picture of the interior of that dual panel sunroof. It certainly looks like manually operates roller sunshades.

Thanks for posting those pictures. It does not work when I try to upload pictures with my I-Pad Mini. It's a great looking sunroof, great improvement, now with dual interior roller sunshades versus the singular sunshade that's offered on the 500L. If only they would offer that sunroof on the upcoming Jeep Renegade!!!

From what I understand, that dual sunroof is an option on the new renegade, read where you can remove the panels and there's room to store them inside the vehicle

That's only with their My Sky dual sunroof. That's 2 solid panels that you can not see through. They do make a glass sliding sunroof for that car but it's only offered in Europe.
