Hey guys, what are your thoughts on the scheduled maintenance for the 500e? I've called the dealer and they said there isn't much done, do you think its worth it?

Tire rotation*, basic checks on brakes, brake pads etc should be part of it - you could probably do that yourself though

How does tire rotation work on this car if rear rims are not the same size as front?

side to side only

It's interesting that while rotation direction is not specified on the tires' sidewalls (as it is, say, in motorcycle tires), the "outside" of each tire is so marked.

The tire tread is not directional, so side to side rotation is allowed. Quite frankly, it is my opinion that side to side rotation on this car is a waste of time.

On bikes, tires are rotationally-oriented not so much because of tread pattern - even tires with symmetrical patterns are directional - but because of internal construction issues: they're less likely to come apart if the internal seams are oriented in a particular way.
