Hello,

I had a question for the DIY people here, I recently purchased a lovely 2012 Fiat 500 Pop and the license plate lamps have gone out, has anyone here managed to replace the lights themselves without going and buying the whole assembly? Or perhaps has anyone figured out how to rig after market lights into it? If neither of those have been accomplished does anyone have any directions to replace the entire assembly? While I am willing to buy the part if absolutely necessary I am not going to give them money to replace it for me. Thanks

Lindsay

What is the Mileage on your Fiat?

If I am not mistaken that License Plate lamp on all the Fiat 500's are LED's and they shouldn't go out very often.

Are both out?

The car has just over 30,000 miles. And the EVIC is indicating that they are both not functioning, last night I went back and checked and sure enough neither of them are working.

I'd take it to the dealer. Both going out at the same time plus they are LED's and not regular halogen bulbs. They should fix it under warranty.

I was told these are covered by fiat being they are LED

If you are able to remove the rear hatch handle, the bulbs are not very difficult to remove. You can then take those lights and source them at a local parts store. Good luck either way.

Fiat replaces the entire unit under warranty on the early 2012 models but sometime during late 2012 and with the 2013 models they made it so the individual bulb can be replaced. There is a small door of sorts that unclips to gain access on the newer models.

Tim and Chris posted this little piece about changing out the bulbs. It might help: http://www.fiat500usaforum.com/showthread.php?17770-Fiat-500-License-Plate-Bulb-Change

Obviously a running change as my early 2012 Sport (Mfg 02/2011) had the NON replaceable LED's.:wavey: My 2013 Abarth has the individually replaceable ones.

As others have already stated, this/these are covered by the 4 year/50,000 mi U.S. warranty and SHOULD be covered by the 3 year/36,000 mi warranty in Canada. Take it to the studio/dealer as they will probably have to order the part(s).
