I use the Road Trip app on my Mini iPad. My new Abarth was filled 8 days ago by the dealership with 30 miles on it. Today I filled it and after recording the info/doing the math, I got 29 MPG from the first tank. Mixed driving, usually shifting no later than 4000rpm since it is new. A couple 5000rpm max shifts during this period, no redline. Freeway speeds 60-70mph.

New engine, I am hoping after it is broken in it will pick up some mpg.

Do you think I will see mpg improvement and possibly how much?

I am actually doing the math, not relying on the car's computer.

you'll see an increase in mileage up to about 3000 miles. it definitely takes some time on this car for some reason to get decent mileage

Agreed with the above reply. On my second Abarth now. First one started at 30-31 mpg in mostly highway driving, improved to 33-34 mpg after approx. 3-4K miles. Current one got 29-30 mpg in the beginning, now 32 on the last tank at around 4500 miles.

As stated it will take awhile, most report anywhere from 2K-5K they see improvements, after you go past about 60-65MPH you will see some lower numbers by a fairly decent margin.

Thanks everyone, I also had the A/C on probably 90% of the time.

It takes time on almost ANY car, if you're tracking these things. I had a Mazda Protégé that was tricked out, and the mileage AND the performance got noticeably better after a while. It just got FASTER. I also had an RX-8, which has notoriously bad mileage- cannot do better than 21 MPG, no matter what- my first tank ran out in about 90 miles. It got about 225 after awhile.

Took another NY-Boston-NY trip in the Abarth today. Just over 35 MPG, no babying or hypermiling. And no complaints on seat comfort after an 8 hour day in the saddle.
