Happened about two hours ago. Goy her home, sitting by my car waiting on tow truck.
She is new inexperienced driver, so I kinda expected it one day.
She said phone started to ring from her just aquired job, she tried to hit cancel on her phone. There were 2 cars in front, apparently fisrt one almoust missed turn to neigbourhood and slammed brakes, second did too. Since my wife got distracted by phone when she hit brakes it was to late. She tried to avoid it by swinging right. Hit old chevy Capri in the right back corner with front left corner of my car. Bags did not deploy. Hood is dented, fender, bumper is torn, intercooler is busted, headlight is cracked and pushed against battery, turn signal now hangs in the engine bay. There could be damage to front suspension, can't see, lots of plastic hanging around. Something may leaked sins I can see trace on the road. Right now car on the side in the grass so can't tell if its leaking. Only positive thing, I think I may get FMIC if dealer is cool about it. They were cool about all my mods before, I will get it towed to them. Pics later.

Ouch. Phones and driving never mix but I hope she's ok.

Use this as an excuse to upgrade the parts; she won't be able to complain too much. haha

Glad she's okay. "Let it ring."

Thanks guys. Tow truck guy said that local Fiat does not have body shop( they have couple general ones for Sam Swope dealerships, no Fiat specific one yet) so got it towed to the best body shop i knew in town.( saw at least 4 results and they were perfect or near perfect). Hopefully I will get FMIC at same time. Does anyone know how much stock intercooler cost?

Does anyone know how much stock intercooler cost?

Depends on how much of the tubing is busted up, but the individual coolers on each side are only $133.00 a piece from mopar.com. The two small tubes that go in and out of the cooler are about $30 each. If the main middle lower tube (8 in the picture) is damaged, that's ~$300. The other main split tube (1) is ~$200. You can see what the rest will run here if you know how far into the system the damage went: http://www.mopar.com/fiat/500/2013/shop/353378/36/3168/

Man that really sucks! Glad your wife is ok, and it looks as though the damage isn't too horrible. Hopefully no damage was done to the main structure of the car.

Good luck with the repairs!

Took couple more pics today at bodyshop. They are waiting on Geico adjuster to come over. I talked to them about getting FMIC and they were fine with that.

I know:) teasing her about it, that she is car killer. All mechanical and electronic things tend to break in her hands. She feels really sorry. BTW do you guys have SILA FMIC in stock? I sent email.to one of you recently.

Got a call from adjuster. Without putting it up in the air, removing wheel and anything else its $3500 in repairs. They will start taking it apart soon to locate if there is any damage to other parts.

Just came back from body shop. Took a closer look with adviser. Told him about HID kit that I recently got and it seems that they will buy a new one for me from madness since one side is gone. They still haven't lift it up yet, but will do soon to examine intercooler piping and suspension. So far I can see only core damage and bracket. So I will prob pass on FMIC at this time. Core is only around $140. I will prob jump for carbonatrix hood. I can get it for $764, and total cost to get factory one installed and painted is $468. Also they will do aligment with camber bolts Im waiting for to be delivered and shim kits that I already got. Only thing that worries me is that wiring got ripped/missing connectors...

Glad you're getting it fixed with minimum of fuss all around it seems. As a note, I too purchased my Fiat from Sam Swope and really like the dealer! I love my Abarth and they treated me well there.

I am glad your beloved wife is ok. These little cars are tough. I am curious, having crashed on March 28, 2014, about the interior. I imagine that some of the airbags deployed but cannot tell from photos. My car appeared to have no worse damage than yours but the insurance company considered repairs to be $8500 plus, thus totaled.

Airbags did not deploy, it did not hit sensor, she swerved to the right,so just barely hit corner of the rear end of old impala.
3500 in repairs so far and they haven't even look and intercooler and suspension.

Just came back from bodyshop. Gave them shims and camber bolts for future alignment. There is actually some movement, they took it more apart, and looked at suspension. Geico estimator have not show up yet again, to estimate suspension and intercooler. Guys at bodyshop said that it will need lower control arm, wheel bearing and something else(forgot) for suspension fix. Also intercooler core, air intake for it, brackets and so on. Wiring to the lights got ripped or missing connectors. They said parts take forever to come over and it will be another 2 weeks for sure.

I hate that it is going to take longer but sounds like they are doing a very thorough job assessing what needs replacing which is a good thing.

Well, the more they find--more money will be made by them. I can wait.

Well, they finally noted everything. Now total repair price is 5600+. And that was under 45mph with braking and trying to avoid it... I can only imagine result of full front impact in this case. Probably will be total.

madbyrd

Mine looked no worse than yours and the adjuster totaled it since the cost of repair was over 70% of cars value. Estimate was $8537 plus (if found more when in repair) and value was approx. $10000, as it was a 2012 Pop with 48000 of my miles on it. It was a sad day and we are still discussing alternatives with lawyer regard rge the red light runner that took us out. Good luck with your repair and hope your wife has no lingering emotional upset.

Well. Talked to the shop to get an update. Things move slowly, lower control arms are back ordered and take long to arrive. Hopefully car will be done first week of June.
