View Full Version : My AEM progressive water/meth installation.

Well I usually don't start threads like this, I'm usually too rushed during part install's to document it and take pics. But from the lack of threads on this subject I decided I would start a thread showing everything I did.

First off, the kit I got was Aem kit# 30-3300.

It's a 2 stage progressive injection kit with internal map sensor built in to the control module. From the beginning the 2 areas I figured would give me problems was finding somewhere to mount the pump and reservoir. And where to mount the actual jet in the intake tract.

I tackled the jet installation first. I decided to mount in in the section of hard pipe right under the battery tray. It was the closest place to the throttle blades that I could find to drill and tap a hole to mount it.

Next was where to mount the tank and pump. I was having a hard time finding somewhere to put it because I have the beats package and where my speaker is takes the place where I usually see the tank mounted. So I decided on this spot for the tank and pump.

I am still in the process of installing the kit as we speak so here in a bit I will post up where I ran all the lines from engine bay to the back and all of the wiring.

Thank you for taking the time to document this install. I'm looking forward to the results and your impressions!

So here is where the boost line and injection line are routed. It was the only accessible place I could find to get a couple holes in the firewall. And when all the panels are back in place everything is hidden.

The map sensor line I routed into the glove box for the control module. Along with the wiring harness for it.

All the lines come in from the bottom of the glove box.

After that I had to run the pump and tank harness and injection line to the back. I ran it along the passenger side under the door sill. It had just enough room to fit and had a nice exit point right behind the passenger seat.

I just used a couple self tapping screws to attach the pump to the floorboard.

It also came with an led status light for low fluid/faults. I put this right above the passenger window switch.

As far as wiring goes. I used standard battery pos/neg for main power and then for the switched 12v to are the system I used the cigar lighter. I just unplugged it and put it back in the slot and used the wires for the module. Because it was easily accessible and I don't use the cigar lighter anyways.

And here is a couple more pics of the final product.

I ended up using the 250cc jet for it. It was right on the brink of being to small for the application but I would rather go a little light on the injection than over spray it. The first couple runs I did where with straight water. It was a decent improvement with just that. After I got the injection points set and the lines purged I filled the tank with a 30/70 mix. It was night and day difference. With the meth mixture boost holds all the way to redline and pulls way stronger. I am in love with the way it drives now. I may do some more fine tuning down the road with injection points and meth mixtures. Right now it starts injection and around 13 psi and progressively injects more until 17psi and then it goes into full injection.

If anyone has any questions on install or anything that I may have forgot to cover feel free to ask me about it.

Excellent stuff. :) Thanks for the thorough documentation of your install, it'll come in helpful in the future. I'm glad to see you didn't encounter any undesirable effects. Are you planning to run a custom tune at some point to push more power, or are you only planning to take advantage of the cleaning/cooling benefits as is?

Nicely done. Copied and stuck in the DIY area.
