So after 10000 miles I am almost to the point were I need new tires I don't want to spend an arm and a leg and the ones I've been looking at are either the toyo r1r 215 45 17 and the dunlop direzza 215 40 17 I obviously have the 17 inch stock wheels but I'm also lowered on eibach sport lines I like the toyos more but I'm worried they won't fit with the springs I have on and idk how much the toyos cost I'm looking for summer only performance tires I'm just wondering if either of these will rub at all and if you guys have some suggestions on what's a good tire for my car thank you!

I have Falkens Azenis RT615k 215/45/17 and lowered on BC COs. They rub a little in certain areas when hitting bumps, but are excellent, well made summer performance tires w/ good traction and runs true and smooth at high speeds. You're probably safer going w/ 215/40/17 if you're concerned about rubbing.

I'm at 18k miles and in need of new tires too! I considered Toyo's Proxies and the Direzzas too but have decided I am going to go with Yokohama S.Drives because I want both the performance and a decent daily driver. So those are another set you can decide upon!

I have 215/40/17 Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 R on my new summer rims but i wont be able to try them for a couple months :( damn Alberta.
As soon as I try them out ill post my thoughts!
Wanted as much grip as I could get for when i get a tune and dp but it still being able to be a somewhat daily driver.
Apparently these are not too loud and have stellar grip. :)
They are a similar tire to the direzza's, they are more money but Ive heard they have quite a bit better wear! and everything else is a toss up.

Anyone know the biggest tire that will fit on the stock 16s?

The Dunlop Z1 deals are sticky. The P Zeros on the Abarth are not as sticky.
I shifted some like new BFG Potenzas for the Dunlops.
After a hot run with the Dunlops and a drive down the gravel driveway those suckers
have a white coating. I like the P Zeros but I love those Dunlops. They will go surfing
in the rain. They heat up quick on a track. I don't expect long tread life with any tire
on a hot rod.
Grip it and rip it!

Toyo 1Rs are around $160 each as I recall from Tire Rack. They're great

Norcal SS,

Tire spec please. Also are those stock 17" wheels? Spacers?

Thanks,

Toyo R1R's are the way to go if you don't care about tire wear and want lots of lateral grip in dry and wet conditions.

BF Goodrich Comp 2s.

Trust me. I work for Michelin. I can't say why, but these tires are simply the BEST, highest performance summer tires you can buy at a STEAL of a price.

Can NOT pass them up.

personally I don't think I would go with the g force kdws. My buddy has them on his s4 and they are very loud! Could be quieter in a skinny size but that's just my experience with them, they handle great and have lots of dry grip though.
How loud do you find them norcal? With our loud cars not sure a loud tire matters haha

Thanks. Thought they were stock 17's but they looked pushed out a bit compared to mine.

Decisions, decisions!!! I do not want to rub at all ever so I guess any tire that requires 215 45 are out but the bfgs intrigued me how much are they and how do you like them norcal?? I think its between the dunlops and the bfgs

That's what my summer 16's are getting, as soon as summer gets here.... 205/45-16, but I'd take a 205/40-16 if BFG would make one (hint, hint...)
I loved the old Proxes4, but they don't make 'em any more in this part of the world.

I feel they are great. For the price and what you get from them you cant go wrong.

I have put 17" back on my car with the Yokohama S Drive solely for the Texas Mile race coming up but when I'm done I will go back to 16" / Toyo 1R Proxes, definitely better for tracking and door to door racing. My Toyo's are 205 and are terrific all around race tires that are very acceptable for street use - a great compromise if you DD your track/race car. The 16" also lower the COG a bit which is great for these slightly top heavy cars
