Interesting tidbit on number of Abarths sold in the US last year.

The programs are happening in strong Fiat markets. Davis tells Marketing Daily that most of Fiat sales occur in major metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Miami. "The three major Fiat brand markets are California, Florida and Texas and most of the Fiat 500 Abarth owners are located in these areas as well." He says that last year the brand sold more than 40,000 units in the United States, "which is a significant number considering the relatively small size of the segments in which we compete."

I think that stat is referring to the number of FIATs sold rather that the number of Abarths sold.

Yeah, the article states the "Brand" sold 40K.

Must be. I was under the impression that they only made around 3,000 for 2012 and something like 5,000 for 2013.

My bad... I was too excited.

No need to apologize. It's still exciting! If they keep selling Abarth's, then hopefully they will continue to refine them!

I was wondering these numbers the other day. Be interesting to compare to numbers of other competitive cars (Mini, GTI, Focus St etc).

For anyone looking, all the sales figures since the first car sold are on Fiat500USa.com. Just look on the left where it says "Popular Topics" and click on Fiat 500 Sales (http://www.fiat500usa.com/search/label/Fiat%20Sales). beerchug

does it seem silly to anyone else that they're closing this to prospective owners? This is a car you need to drive to appreciate and they've got a perfect opportunity to get people behind the wheel and really fall in love and they're pissing it away in my opinion

that's not true. it's also open to none FIAT owners and potential customers. I went to a FIAT Abarth event before I bought my own FIAT. I posted about the event I went to here and to let other potential Abarth buyers know.

According to the second to last paragraph of the article it is true. I wasn't just making it up. We all know how accurate the press can be though. 10042
