View Full Version : Change mirrors from red to black (nero)?

I just asked this over at Abarthspeed, but this forum seems more populated. Pardon the cross post.

Just picked up a 2013 in Nero with red stripes and mirrors. I'd like to remove the decals, which seems easy enough. Question is what do I need to do/buy to get the mirrors to match the rest of the car? I see 500madness and others have mirror caps for sale, but I can't tell if these would go over the red, or replace the red. And anyway, none of them are just plain black (or metallic black, I guess). I suppose I could have the red ones painted, but I assume there's an easier way.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

The mirror caps are replacement pieces, they don't go on over the existing.

Great, thanks. Is there a good source for black caps other than through the dealership?

Sometimes here on the forum someone will sell them but otherwise moparpartsonline is likely your best choice.

I actually swapped my red for black here on the forum. They are a bit of a pain to take off and you can easily break the tabs. Take your time and be careful.

I'd say put them up for trade. Worked for me. I actually have an extra set that I thought I might paint. If I decide not to use them, I'll let you know.

You could hit them with some paint yourself and save some money. The paint code is PXR aka Chrysler brillant black and can be found in most auto stores.

I'm looking for a pair of red ones myself. Will trade my Nero (Black) if interested.

I've been thinking about going with grigio from the black ones I have so the mirrors match the paint then just leave the black stripe down the side for contrast. Then later if I decide I wish I had black mirrors just hit the caps with some plastidip.

I have found a set that I think will work for me. Thanks for all the input. Next question: the red accents in the centercaps on the wheels...

I'll let you know how my center caps go in a few days, car is in body shop and having them paint the dash panel - mirror caps - red part of the center caps all in Rame

PR1 I *think* because I have a set of (as yet) unpainted ones because my red car has black mirrors and I want red ones :)

hi, welcome to the forum, i agree with "Abarth619" , you should go for paint on your mirrors as it would be affordable and of your choice.... thanks to all for sharing their views:lala:
