Silly question - doesn't an install like this involve tons of drilling, fabbing, grinding, etc [?]

Reason I ask if because I was under the impression that this was a pretty advanced thing, but your comment makes me wonder otherwise.....

Into the metal behind the bumper...not the bumper.

The fmic is a very basic install and bolts up to current factory mounting points, one small 9/64 hole must be drilled in the metal bumper seam. After installing the factory fascia nothing can be seen visually and if the intercooler is removed all that's different is the 9/64" hole on the back seam if the bumper.
Hope this helps

Cool, I soon realized the ATM FMIC is one of the key ingredients for a solid base of engine mods for this platform in order to maximize engine performance. I'm sure your mapping out of engine mods will be spot on just as you have done w/ your fantastic exterior mods. Look forward to seeing more of your build thread!

I've been studying the Forge DIY install instructions:http://www.forgemotorsport.com/media/fiat%20500%20abarth%20intercooler.pdf which is very helpful for removal of the front bumper, however, the ATM FMIC is slightly different than the Forge FMIC in that there is no front bar to install on the ATM. I haven't been able to find more specific ATM DIY install instructions if one exists.

The install of the ATM FMIC is even easier than the Forge as our unit literally fits into its residing area like a Tetris puzzle piece and mounts to existing factory mounting locations. Our silicone is also more direct. in essence once you remove the factory ICs Our FMIC kit only fits in one way, you center it with the abarth logo on the hood using masking tape as your guide. once you find center you drill a 9/64 hole for the centering alignment bracket. we suggest 2 sets of hands and eyes(bribe a friend with beer) the only tight area is tightening the clamp down on the turbo but its actually pretty easy if you do this step using a ratchet extension attacking it from the passenger side headlight area. Shagghie put up a pretty detailed post with pics on his install!

Yes we can do both the HCI and FMIC for $1050 plus shipping and if you wanted the modified cowl it would add $50.

Shipping is also cheaper together as we can fit the HCI and fmic in one box.

Wow, what a difference the ATM FMIC makes in torque and boost. Turbo spools up faster with much greater pull in all gears. I should have done this mod earlier, but I'm glad I finally made the plunge. It was well worth it and money well spent. The only mod I did with the install was add a washer for the screw for the top mount bracket. Without the washer, the screw would not screw all the way down. Other than that and the PITA drilling a hole in the front steel bumper, everything else fit spot on. Even being very careful while removing the bumper, I broke one of the plastic tabs so I'll have to replace that piece. This is by far the best and most functional FMIC on the market today. Its simplicity and efficiency is second to none. Great job ATM! Next mod is a better front grill to get more air to this baby.
