hey all,

I know you are generally supposed to go down a size when getting snow tires but I have a problem. I need snow tires now, I cannot get 205-40-17's and they don't make a snow tire in 17" narrower than 205 (from what I gather). Is it ok, and can the Abarth handle going to a 215-45-17 snow tire? I can get those immediately.

I can get a 205-50-17 but it seems that the speed difference is greater (+6.88%) than with the 215-45-17s (+4.95%)

btw the rim is obviously a 17" and has a +30 offset.
thanks.

I have 215/40/17's and they rub slightly at full lock. It's safe to say that 215/45's are definitely going to rub the fender liners up front!

Aren't there a ton of tires in 205/45R17?

I remember running the size over at Costco and I got blizzaks, pirelli snowcontrols, etc. all pop up easily.

I can get 205-45-17 but they are about $50/tire more expensive than 205-50-17. I'd rather not spend the extra $200 if I could help it.
