Good enough for a 58.1, which was faster than most cars out there today (some trophies: NSX, Cayman, R32 (tie), and many BRZ/FRS's that didn't have a chance but a few that still beat me

Kinda sounded like some extra understeer tire squeal in a couple of tighter turns. True or was it just normal squeal from tires at the limit? How you doing on overall PAX?

looked like a tight lower speed course, thanks for the video.

What air pressures are you running?

Great to see 3 ABARTHS at one event! On a FIAT X/19 forum someone mentioned seeing 2 Abarths at an event in PA recently too.

That was pretty much all four wheels in a lot of those corners. It's hard to tell in the video but that course actually has some terrain to it... a lot of those sweepers are negatively banked, and most of them have effective decreasing radius' when you factor in the exit gates or slalom entry points. Everyone said it was one of the most 'headstrong' courses ever in the region... there were SO MANY decision points to be made and you had to really manage speeds throughout strategically...it was very easy to end up being tempted into WOT and staying in it, only to find yourself in no man's land after a section. A lot of baited traps.
The car didn't feel like it was understeering very much compared to the past. It turned in great, and it rotated well at the apex. The only tricky part is still how soon and aggressively you can get back on the throttle during exits. But as long as I was managing the contact patch up front, I didn't feel like there was to much understeer. One of the guys working the back section said I was in a 4 wheel drift in one of the sweepers...not sure how I feel about that, but yeah.
The car was really fast...to put it in perspective, the next fastest abarth ran a 66 second best. My 59.14 was only 2 seconds of from 2nd place in SM class, and the top three spots were all running racing slicks. The car was effectively the second fastest car that was running street tires in both SM and SMF classes. I may be off by one position but just watching and seeing a pic of the preliminary SM class rankings, i think that's where I ended up. We'll see. I can't say enough about the FMIC and auto-x...on those box turns I would have been tempted to slam it down into 1st normally, but instead was able to keep it in 2nd and still get forward momentum in the lower RPM's as the boost recovered. Subtle difference, but saving a few shift points makes a big difference on a 60 second course where times are measured in the 100ths...

From cold, and using the factory air compressor that comes with the car as a gauge, I ran 44F / 38R. Those are the amounts after you stop the compressor pump and let the needle settle to the PSI. You actually have to show 46F/40R as you are pumping the air with compressor on b/c the gauge is off by 2psi when under load. Even with ESC in partial on, the tires didn't seem to heat up very much, but it also wasn't a very warm day.

awesome job!

Thanks! The car is really starting to feel quick now!

Oh yeah, if you're within two seconds of the racing tire guys on a 58 second long course, that is pretty dang good in my book!

Good run!
I hate that we have to go to Street Modified with the FMIC - not a big fan of the SCCA grading system personally....
