New Mod: 500 Madness Carbon Fiber valve caps

Big shout out to the great customer service at 500 madness. I initially ordered the black Abarth valve caps, but they were sold out and provided me with the more expensive CF ones at no additional cost. It's a small mod but beauty is in the details!!

New Mod: Red trunk strap, Red/Black seat belt pads

Trunk strap: $11 (eBay)
Seat belt pads: $3 (eBay) Thanks China!!

Colors match the red/black sport interior. Not only is the red strap heavier duty, but it looks almost like the pull straps on the seats themselves. These really spruced up the interior for <$15

My EUROCOMPULSION v2 Intake Review

I've had it installed for a few days now and thought I'd share some quick reactions to the product.

Install
Most would rate this install as a 1/5 in difficulty. I'd say it was a 2-3/5 on my scale. With that being said, this was the most extensive install I've ever done under the hood of a car. It certainly wasn't difficult to understand, I just didn't expect to wrestle with the vacuum lines and pinch clips so much :nightmare:

Still, I was able to install the v2 in 1.5 hrs really taking my time.

Visual
The v2 intake is stunning. The red silicone looks great with the red airbox cover and the EUROCOMPULSION ram-air hose rounds out the engine bay with more red silicone. I LOVE the way it looks under there.

Plus, and this was my personal preference, I really like how the filter pre-charger cleans up the look of the intake. Honestly, I think the v3 intake LOOKS better and I'm sure many people like the look of the exposed cone filter on the v2, but I found my optimal design with the v2 intake and the pre-charger.

Performance
As many have noted before, this intake really does improve certain performance factors. Here's what I've noticed:

1. Low end: I've noticed that the engine response in 1st and 2nd gears is smoother than stock. At parking lot speeds (I have 500 frickin speed bumps between my apt and the entrance) the throttle response is no longer as jumpy as before. I really enjoy not having the turbo kick in at all at those speeds.

2. Acceleration: Also, as promised, this intake did create mid and high end performance gains. This is just based on my butt dyno, but now NORMAL mode feels like stock SPORT mode and SPORT mode feels like an entirely new level!

4. Audio: While the performance gains are the real investment, the new audio enjoyments are well worth the $. The audible rush of intake air, dat flutter, and the refreshing crisp relief of the blow-off valve... This intake creates a whole new sound for your vehicle. Unfortunately, some people, namely my wife may compare the new noises to that of a semi-truck!! lol

I'm lovin it

Painted the turbo bracket black... much better :encouragement:

Now I just need a turbo blanket to cover the rest of the shield!

Light came out nice and the bracket blends better now for sure, coming together nicely.

Black and Grigio!

It didn't turn out quite as even as I had hoped, but I do like the way it looks. I'm planning to tint the windows 25% all around which should enhance the sleek black look.

I assumed it was a work related thing, in such a case then it makes sense but it still has a lot of suck attached. :D

NOOOOO! My baby had an accident yesterday :frown:. Going roughly 20mph approaching an intersection in the left turn lane, old lady in the center lane decides to swing out and change lanes right in front of me. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time/space to stop and I couldn't swerve out into oncoming traffic. I'm glad to say the Abarth felt super solid in the crash and kept me safe. The damage seems to be mostly cosmetic, but I haven't had it thoroughly checked out yet.

Thankfully we were both unharmed and I was not at fault, but it sucks either way!!

Ouch, it hurts to see this car in pain, but very glad no one was hurt...
Think that's the third accident I've seen this week on the forum.
Hope insurance company has it repaired right, and soon!

Super bummer. :( Glad you're OK. There are a lot of panels bent though, hood, cross brace, fender, door, bumper, lights. That's not going to be a cheap fix. Best of luck that insurance is on your side and does quick good work of it.

Stupid drivers out there. :grief: This only amplifies my opinion that we should have much more strict and repeated driving tests. Piloting a 1.5 Ton missile is still not trivial.

Thanks for the support guys.. Yeah unfortunately it's going to be a pretty comprehensive repair so I hope I can find someone with experience to do it.

I believe the FIAT dealer in West Bloomfield, MI does body work, so they're probably my best bet. Here's to a fast full recovery for Bartolo and he'll be back on the streets! beerchug

Someone is out to lessen the Grigio Abarth #s on the road!

Good to hear all came out unharmed and hopefully the fix is quick and done well.

Quick update... 3-4 week lead time and $9,700 in damages! OUCH!!

Ouch on the lead time. Is that because of parts availability or general insurance slowness?

bummer. What is going on with forum members getting into accidents lately? That estimate seems huge. Mine has same damage on other side, minus door and it's quoted for 3500 o get it fixed.

Yeah, I haven't seen the entire breakdown but included in that is an entire passenger door (could take awhile), hood, frame work, lights, bumper, front QP, entire front right suspension and new rim/tire

As long as it's done right, it's worth the wait!

Stopped by the body shop today to find Bartolo outside without a bumper on.. (insert topless joke here..)

In any case, it gave me access to see some of the work they did under the hood and I noticed this line was cut. Can anyone confirm what it is? I'm thinking coolant line but I didn't spend real long looking at it.

Supposedly 1 more week and I'll be back in the driver's seat!

New Car!

I'm both excited and very sad to see my first car go. I picked up Bartolo from the body shop Tuesday and over the past two days found a number of things I wasn't satisfied with so I traded it in on a '14 Nero

I'll miss the Grigio, no stripes, but Nero and Red does look good! New thread coming soon!!

His name shall be Bartolo Jr.
