I went to get the oil changed yesterday at my dealer. While I was doing so I went to look at the stock they have. Jorge, a sale guy I have known for awhile and I got to talking. He told me around March or so that they are going to stop production on the Abarth. I asked if it was because of a model up grade or redesign. He said "No, they want to stop production to keep the value up and to make it limited."

I don't believe him and considering Fiats rather very limited model design it would be a big mistake to get rid of it.

Watch out and don't step in the bulls#!t. There's a big pile of it being shoveled in front of you. Kidding aside, Fiat cares about making money, not about how limited or how much their used cars are worth. Abarths aren't going anywhere, although the thought of mine being a limited, low production model does sound appealing. :)

EDIT: On second thought there could be some truth in this. It's no secret 2013 models aren't sellng as fast as they had hoped. That's probably why they haven't announced the 2014s yet. Creating a limited production would be the most likely scenario, but stopping production all together wouldn't happen.

Oh, Word?

I was told almost the same thing while I was signing the papers on my abarth Saturday. The sales and finance manager both said that fiat only plans on bringing around 400 2014 abarth into the US in the first quarter and haven't said if they're planning on brining any more than that for the entire year. I could care less of they do or not. Maybe they've looked at how many gti VW makes and that every time they come out with the new body style the price plummets on the older. Limited run worked fairly well for resale on the neon srt4. Sure you can get a roached out 100k for 4-6 grand but find a clean unmolested 04-05 and its still 12-16, hell i paid 12 for my 05 with 50k on it in 2010. Not bad for a car that cost around 18 new.

I have no interest in the regular 500. They are just not my cup of espresso.

They are probably holding off releasing the 2014 so they move the rest of the 2013s. They did produce a heck of a lot more for this year which has created a surplus. When the 2014s do get released, they probably will not release as many. As for limited run.. I doubt it. Later on down the road we will probably see that there were more '13s produced than any other year.

They'll be a new 500 Abarth based on the new body style debuting in 2015. Exact timing of when it will hit is obviously not known, but there was a year delay the last time, so draw your own conclusions.

Does anyone know the 2013 Abarth production numbers?

This is a direct quote I got from Fiat on Facebook.

"The person who gave you this information must have been referring to the end of model year production. We plan on continuing the Abarth."

So it appears to me Abarth will still be made but 2014's will only be made unitl March until the 2015's roll out.

I had a person who works for a dealer tell me that the 2014's were going to be a limited in production. I think he said 400. Have no idea on the truth in that.

I just came back from my Fiat dealer - did my 1st oil change, anyhow, I asked my sales guy about the 2014 and he showed me the brochure for it. Nothing changed but one new 16' wheel option, that's it. He says they are due for a minor redesign in the 2015 model year, more then likely getting the touch screen from the 500L. He said the same thing that has already been said, they have tons of 2013 models still which is prolli why Fiat is waiting a bit on the 2014's

Generally FIAT will produce a FIAT Abarth model 500, Punto Panda etc. for a couple of years. Then they stop making that modal and they make another.

So what I get from this is that the 2015 Abarth will be out in the April to June timeframe of 2014? Is this possible?

My personal opinion is that the 2015 Abarth won't appear in the marketplace before August-September timeframe. After completing the 2014 model run the machines will have to be reprogrammed to produce 2015's, test runs for build integrity will have to be done, and extensive quality control checks completed before any vehicle is released for sale. Please hold any snarky comments till the 2015's actually arrive.

As long as there is a 500, there will be an Abarth. It is a seperate brand in Europe made up of the Punto and the 500 and they aren't going to eliminate half of the model lineup.
