Anyone tried installing LED Daytime Running lights on an Abarth to replace the factory bulbs?

Does it cause a burnt bulb Error notification on the dashboard panel?

Thanks in advance!

Many have tried and failed. Some have also experienced fire hazard issues while experimenting with cheap ebay options!

There doesn't seem to be a solution at the moment, from what I've seen.

I have LED in drl rigth now + resistors from Autozone. No code because of resistors.Keep in mind resistor wattage, I have 25watt and they get hot enough to melt insulation and plastic clips they hold on to on main wires. It worked great for over 3 month. Now one bulb got broken contact pin, Floridas bumpy roads contributed to it I beliave, so it would flicker or turn off till next hard "bump".
I just discovered some melted insulation and broken contact pin. imho it not worth it, I've seen great piia bulbs on Tweaks car, they look very close to led output and cheap. Tweak can you post a link on amazon to which you got? Front and back?

Thanks, I have the following and although not LED they look nice in bright white and they are cheap when they need replacing.

DRL: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RUG1U6/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Reverse: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002MAHKY/ref=oh_details_o09_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They look blue until turned on, then they look HID like with a bright white output. Due to the camera they look blueish but they are white in person. The HID lights are 4300K for the sake of comparison so you can tell the DRL lights aren't such a bad match for such a low cost option. :)

You can run the canbus 'error free' ones, as long as you disable the DRL option on the dash EVIC menu. This means they will work when (and ONLY when) the headlights are on, without throwing any codes. But it is an ironic situation as you end up without, you know, DAYTIME running lights (the whole point). I tried for 5 months and bought and returned close to a dozen different sets, all to no avail. I now have amber colored bulbs to match the yellowed fog bulbs and to contrast (rather than match) the 6000k HIDs in the headlamps. Hope that helps!

I now have amber colored bulbs.......

I did this as well. To me the amber running lights look better than the white lights.

Just replaced mine with Phillips bulbs from Autozone. Worked fine and a little brighter. No error. Easy install.

Do you think 15 Watt LEDs will be OK?

Thanks!

The only LED option I know of working I linked above...what you are considering may work but until tested you and we will not know for sure, best you use the mentioned bulbs above or the LED's linked unless you wish to do some testing and possibly locate another working option.

I installed the PIAA ones that TWEAK posted. Works great.

I just dislike the blue look when the car is off, but not a big deal.

The blue I didn't originally know about but I quickly got used to it since they look so good for so little $. I also did the reverse lights which of course also look blue when off. No one has ever mentioned the blue color but I would assume they are noticing it on some occasions. They are really great in the color output for the price. Glad you like them (mostly). :)

How do those reverse lights look?

When off they look blue just as the DRL lights. When on they look bright white like the DRL lights shown BUT I don't think they put out more than stock, possibly a little less actual output but I did them a year ago and long forgot what stock looks like. I think they look best when looking AT them and not using them to look behind you. Luckily they are cheap and easy to change out if desired but I have been alright with them for the past year. Different people expect and require different things but for me they are adequate and I like that they are bright white so other people can see them. Surgical procedure tomorrow (simple stuff) but maybe in a few days I can get a few on/off & day/night pics for you.

The miracle of modern medicine makes most procedures simpler than they used to be. Good luck with yours.

Thanks Coby! All went quickly and for the most part I feel good...still a little blah from the anesthesia which isn't uncommon. Should be pretty good before noon tomorrow if all goes as it usually goes.
