Looking to buy a Trekking. Would like to know beforehand what actual gas mileage people are getting.

No highway trips yet but our L is averaging 31.5 mpg "around town" which consists of rural back roads and soccer pick-ups/drop-offs. I am using 93 octane. Oh, and our Trekking is an auto with a roof basket creating more drag.

Just finished a 500 mile vacation trip, 70+mph, plus some city. I got 33.4mpg, which I thought was good. Now I have 1500 miles on it.

Welcome to the forum. Seeing as I don't own one I can't help but others have replied with some info which hopefully helped your decision.

Yes, get the car. It's a lot of fun to drive. I really like the auto/manual trans, plenty of power, wonderfully firm but supple suspension, unconnect with nav and Bluetooth is works well. Lighting is excellent. It's a different car for people tired of Modern SUVs. I traded in a 2010 Equinox, it was nice, but I wanted something different. It was a 4 cyl but gas mileage was not very good.

I'm getting 31mpg with a 60% city/40% hwy daily commute. Using mostly 91 octane (plus a little of whatever the dealer filled it with).
(I have the manual transmission.)

I filled up yesterday since I had a road trip to take. I put in 10.1 gallons, my trip meter showed I went 428mi since last fill up (I still had just under 1/4 tank when I filled up). To me this means I got 42.8mpg, but my evic said it was 30.1mpg. Huh?

Sounds like you didn't reset the trip so it is showing the average since the last 2 or more fillups? Maybe? Or else you didn't fully fill it up with only 10.1 gallons. You did get some very good miles on that last tank however.

I did reset it, we are diligent about it, was just weird.

Hello Ellie,

If you are making 42.8 miles/gallon, I would keep the 500L and sell to Fiat for a fortune :) Jokes aside , kind of weird.

I'm just going to watch it, was so weird I even texted my hubby when I filled up. Honestly, I'm happy w just about anything considering SUV I had only got 14-16mpg. How to get my baby out of the shop.

About 32 Mpg day to day which is mostly rural city driving. I've seen 43 Mpg hwy on a trip down to Oregon and back. Going to drive to Reno in October, I-5 most of the way down so it should be interesting to see what I get.

I should also mention that I used the AC 100% of the time.

This is the first car I have ever owned that gets exactly the same as the advertised EPA estimates.
I have had mine for over 2 months.
I get 25 mpg around town/city driving
I recently took a trip with over 10 hours of highway driving and got 33 mpg.

Does 93 octane mean "regular"? And, I thought the 4dr only came out 2014. You have a 2012 4 dr?

87 Regular
89 Mid Grade
93 Premium

This is how I see it.

We don't have 91 but I guess that'd be Premium in those places that do not offer 93.

Nah, I knew this couldn't be accurate. The evic showed my last two tanks w same average, (premium 91 octane) at 31.3mpg. I didn't bother looking at miles traveled for each tank.

My current fill I put in regular. Figured run it for a couple tanks.

~2000 miles on the car.

Average in town ~25mpg, HWY ~32mpg.
Hard acceleration driving in town down to 19mpg over 20-30 miles.

We have just over 1400 miles on our 500L. The first 360 was by a transport company bringing the vehicle up I5 from Bakersfield, CA to San Jose, CA. Took a short trip today from Santa Clara, CA to Muir Woods in Marin County, CA. Cleared the Trip A info and headed up 280 to San Francisco, over 19th ave (light traffic) over the Golden Gate back on to 101 and exit to 1 to Muir Woods and then back again. Going up 280 (about 40 miles each way about 10 miles 101 each way ) I did 65/70 using cruise control for 20 miles each way on 280 set to 66. Total miles was about 140. Highway 1 to Muir Woods windy roads 10-40 mph up down hills.

When we got home the Trip A readings where average speed 40 mph, 30 mpg.

We put Shell VPower 91 octane and it has up to 10% ethanol in our area.

I think I got a dud even after having tranny replaced and driving very reasonably. I only get 23-25 with minimum 50% highway.

We just got back from making a run up to Ashland, Oregon (6.5 hour drive each each) from San Jose, CA to see our daughter for Mother's Day. Last time we got approx 32 MPG up and back averaging 65 MPH per the Trip Computer. This trip there was a construction zone that dropped to us 55 for a bit. The car has a bit over 4200 miles on it. Per the trip computer we averaged 63 mph and 33.7 mpg with 91 octane Shell V-Power with 10% ethanol. No traffic we where able to drive at freeway speeds the entire trip (had the cruise control on most drive) Filled up at Redding, CA on the way up had a half a tank Got to Ashland with just under 3/4 of a tank. Filled up at a Williams, CA just above the 505 cutover to 80 from 5. Had a half a tank got home with around 3/4 of a tank.

12584I have had my 500L almost a year. I have averaged 31.3 mpg That includes mostly driving in town (around Dayton) some interstate locally and a trip to Ft Lauderdale, Fl from Dayton, OH and back. I have 17000 and the 31.3 figure is from the trip computer Automatic tranny. I try to stay out of the turbo but sometimes it's fun.
