In case there's anyone else out there who enjoys Art Deco design, we've learned about an Art Deco museum in Nashville that is featuring a unique exhibit of vehicles designed in Art Deco style. The web site has images and details of what's in "Sensuous Steel" which ends this Saturday, Sept 15.

We haven't been to Nashville (only recently moved to GA), so my wife and I decided this week would be a good time to go. We'll also visit the Lane Motor Museum which has the largest collection of European cars and motorcycles in the U.S.

While the Sensuous Steel doesn't have any Italian cars (Art Deco, so lots from France), the Lane Museum has several Fiats including a 1936 Topolino.

Here's a pic from the website of the 1936 Delahaye 135M Figoni and Falaschi Competition Coupe.

Cheers,
Bill

It would have been better if I had posted the "Sensuous Steel" info when we first learned about it a couple of weeks ago. Then other folks would have had a bit more time to plan if they were interested. But I just thought to do so today when there are only seven days left. :dunce:

The museum is not an Art Deco museum. It is an Art museum that is in the old post office in Nashville. The post office has deco style because it was built during that period but the art featured is not restricted to or even primarily Art Deco. The cars featured in this exhibit are however.

If anyone makes the trip be sure to stop by Lane Motor Museum (http://www.lanemotormuseum.org/) while you're here! They have a few FIATs.

Yeah, it's the Art Deco building that piqued our interest....along with the car exhibit! We like the style. While living in Oakland CA for a while, we enjoyed touring (and performances at) one of the finest examples in the U.S., the massive Paramount Theater - a 'jewel' of Art Deco design. http://www.paramounttheatre.com/history.html

Good that you mentioned the Lane Motor Museum again and added the link!
