Hello everyone! My name is Anthony and I'm coming to FIAT/Abarth after nearly a decade of playing with Subaru's. I actually run a small business that deals with performance aftermarket parts for Subaru's, primarily dealing with suspension, but covered most stuff that deals with suspension/brake/chassis. Everything from road racing to RallyX and rally set up's.

A couple pics of the car the Abarth is actually replacing. This was a WRX wagon prepped for RallyX events and back road fun. Was also my daily driver.

One of my favorite pictures of that car taken during a RallyX I was competing in

I've got a different car now that I plan to use for RallyX, and for ages now I've wanted a micro car, so I decided it was time for a change and snatched up this 2013 Abarth 500 in Bianco (I believe it's called) with optioned wheels and other goodies. Here's a few pics from a little mini road trip I did with the car recently. My brother came along and drove the STi you see in the other pictures

Anyway, over the years I've driven/built all sorts of different cars, but I've gotta say, the Abarth, out of the box for a car in this range is by far one of the best I've driven. It's diminutive size, and lightweight chassis make for an awesome starting point for a performance car, and the Abarth model build on that perfectly. I'm hard pressed performance wise to find much I don't like for a off the showroom floor road car.

Of course, everything has some room for improvement, and hasn't stopped me from daydreaming about some performance ideas haha I'm thinking about expanding the line of performance stuff I carry into the FIAT world, but we'll see how that goes in time.

Looking forward to meeting and chatting with you all!

Welcome to the forum! RallyX is cool and I would love to see an Abarth doing some rally action.

Welcome! There is a large group of us getting together on Sunday for a drive down to Oceanside. We are going to cruise up Palomar. Should be a good turnout. If interested we are meeting on Sunday at 6am in Glendale. Check out the SoCal Meetup thread for more details.

WELCOME!!!!!! Great shots!

I get lots of inspiration from the R3T series in WRC, nice WRX, former Sti owner and big rally fan!!

I think rally based racing is the purest form of racing, with altitude changes/surface changes and many unforgiving corners!!

Flatout through it all requires lots and lots of skill, that fuses road racing/drifting and off-roading all in one session.

We are in the midst of making some nice heavy duty and intermediate duty skidplates for the Abarth.

Shoot me an email. love to hear your thoughts/ideas on stuff. chris@eurocompulsion.net

Thanks, Yeah I think this could be a excellent RallyX car with a couple modifications, though mine is destined only for pavement haha. I have a MK4 Golf that I will be prepping for RallyX duty, and hopefully at some point stage rally.

Thanks for the invite! It's been ages since I've been to Palomar, but I remember it being a great driving road. Time is unfortunately hard to find sometimes to do fun things like this. But I'd like to make it to to one of your guy's drives sometime!

Thanks! Yeah we we're driving by that car wash, when I spotted it and was like "ooooh we gotta stop and take pictures there" haha I love photography, so luckily I had my tripod and DSLR stashed in the trunk that night. I think the locals we're more accustomed to seeing big muddy trucks there, and when they saw a FIAT and Subaru in there it raised some eyebrows lol

Thanks!

Same here! I love all sorts of motorsports, but rally has always been close to my heart. Since I was a little kid I'd always been captivated by images of awesome cars blasting down insanely challenging roads!

I'd definitely like to take a look at your skid plates. If you guys have any fabbed already feel free to shoot me some pictures at vaughnperformance@roadrunner.com This car won't be seeing any gravel use, but even for tarmac, I like the idea of a skidplate. You never know when you'll be carving along your favorite back road and come upon some large errant rock you can't avoid haha. A ding in the skid plate is a lot nicer then a cracked oil pan. It's just nice peace of mind!

Thanks! Yeah looking forward to chatting it up with everybody on these forums as well.

It really is heaps of fun! Not quite the same intensity of stage rally, but still massive fun, and extremely challenging! It really is a great test of your skills still, and teaches heaps of car control in the process! Definitely recommend checking it out for any driving enthusiast.
