I wonder if any other Pope has ridden in an Italian car....like maybe a Ferrari Mondial!

I like Pope Francis. He is down to earth and responsible + he chose a Fiat!

John Paul II had an amazing go at it, but was very politically savvy. So it doesn't surprise me to see him standing in a Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet.

Heck, they're both Italian cars. One of them is just a bit more flashy and slick.

I think the Mondial photo was when the Pope visited the Ferrari factory! I read that Enzo was pretty sick, this was shortly before he died maybe, and the two of them didn't meet.

I can't fully remember all the details, but Luca DiMontezemolo gifted a Ferrari to John Paull II sometime during his reign. I am also not sure what became of it.

JP II loved the Mercedes Popemobile. The Scuderia's biggest enemy is the Silver Arrows; add to that Red Bull over the last few years.
