I had a blast over the weekend taking Rocco out on his first ever track weekend. My cousin Will, who has been racing for over 7 years, has been really excited about my Abarth since I had it on order last February and he finally got me to join him for a Trackdaze (http://Trackdaze.com) weekend in Summit Point, WV (http://www.summitpoint-raceway.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4&Itemid=21).

I really appreciated the Abarth Driving Experience that came with the car for giving me the track knowledge that helped me get through Summit Point with no issues at all. My Abarth has no performance mods, and stock 16" tires and it didn't have any problems braking or cornering! Braking is a little bit squirrely approaching turn one from the long straight away between 100-110MPH, but never any problem controlling the car before and during the turn.

Trackdaze includes two 30 minute classroom instructions (once in the AM and once in the PM) and four 30 minute lap sessions per day (2 AM and 2 PM). I averaged about 8MPG and burned a quarter tank each half hour on the track!

Mine was the only Abarth representing at the track and it got some attention for sure. Although it's no competition for the Vette's and Porche's (amongst others), it held it's own.

Anyway, just wanted to share and highly recommend checking out Trackdaze events if you live in the DC Metro area (they seem to be pretty centric around tracks within 2 hours of DC)

Here are a few pics from the photographers that were on site:

That sounds like a ton of fun! I've only done a few autocrosses, so a track day is on my to-do list.

The Abarth is such a blast to drive on track days. I especially love the pic showing you ahead of the FR-S/BR-Z. That always makes me smile. Got a similar pic from my track day last weekend at Streets of Willow out here:

I realize this will turn into quite an expensive hobby! I must pace myself with all the performance upgrades, not to mention the cost of going on the track and all!

BTW, I'll be in Hawaii Oct 17-Nov 2 to celebrate my big 4-0. I've been the past two years at that time... but I forgot to look into any tracks there lol (right!)
