View Full Version : 500 Sport speedo bezel in leather

I am thinking about wrapping the outer bezel ring around the speedo in leather.

A few ??:

Does anyone know how the ring is removed?

Also, instead of modifying mine, in case something doesn't quite go as planned, I would like to buy a replacement bezel and wrap that one. If I don't like it or if there is a fitment issue, I still have the original. That said, does anyone know what the piece costs? Can a vendor facilitate getting the part? Anyone parting out a 500?

TIA!

Not exactly. I want to wrap just the outermost part of the speedo that is right behind the steering wheel, not all the way back on the dome that is part of the dash. I also don't need the gauges or gauge holders, and I want the stitching to be black or white, not red.

gotcha, I'd think any local interior shop could do that for ya

I'd love my "dome," as I call it....if it was wrapped in white leather...or even red. Oh yeah. Great way to make the interior stand out from the outside looking in!

I bought a cover from Ebay UK, the problem is; it's for the Euro Abarth and suppose to cover the entire cluster "top" that the Abarth has, not only the bezel, so it doesn't fit well at all over the stock bezel, but, with a cutter, glue and patience, you can make it work.
Here it's on my Sport, it's not great, but better than plastic! (the pictures are not very good)

As I was at it, I also put the one for the e-break and replaced the shifter booth, to have all with same white piping (the seller has it in other colors)

To remove the bezel do the following;
Remove the leftmost front panel (the small painted one), just pull, carefully, as one of the clips might fall (happened to me :( ) and it's a pain to find it.
Remove the steering column cowl (two screws on the bottom part, once you remove it, looking upwards you'll see two more which free the top part).
Once this is removed, you'll see two screws at the base of the bezel, remove these, then pull the bezel.

This is the seller;

Again; keep in mind it's NOT plug and play at all!!! A good interior shop would probably do a better job, of course, it wont be this cheap.

I am getting ready to wrap my bezel in leather.

What would you recommend using as an adhesive that is car interior friendly given our hot summers and cold winters?

Wrapped up this project over the weekend. Very tedious to do, but fun nonetheless. I am satisfied with the results. It's impossible to stop tinkering with this car!

Looks like it came out looking good so the result would appear to be well worth the effort. :)

I like the custom mods you've made to your car - looks really great. But of the three mods you've shown, I'm about to add a custom leather e-brake boot so I have a question; was the e-brake boot difficult to install?
