Stateline Fiat is hosting a Fiat owners get together Thursday July 11th from 5-8pm to unveil the 500L.

SCCA South Carolina Region is holding their next Autocross Sunday at Darlington, so I'll be there in the Abarth running in G Stock class having fun. Maybe not going fast, but having fun!

I take it that's not the same region that banned all 500's, including Abarth's for no good reason? Have fun! She runs GREAT in G Stock class!

Right, the South Carolina Region has no problem with Abarth, only the Central Carolina Region.

Phew! BTW we had a corvette get totaled at the last Auto-X. hit a bump mid-apex and got on the power too soon/too much... suspension came back down and the car literally lurched off the track and into a metal trash can and light post... red fiberglass everywhere, airbags, totaled car and rattle driver bleeding everywhere. But you know, Corvettes are very stable cars and should not be banned. Only the little Italian is capable of being unstable.

At ZMax dragway (where the Abarth was not allowed to run), there was as Cadillac that had it's side curtain airbags deploy in the middle of a run. Whatever the model is that looks like a station wagon, not an SUV. I don't think they made many of them, but I'd hate to think how expensive that autocross was for the guy!

The SCCA needs to rein CCR in.

Some other forum members have written the national SCCA folks raising this point, so we'll see what their reply is. For now I'm happy to drive in my home South Carolina Region, and will just totally ignore the other region since they leave me no option.

Yep, keep the focus on fun and faster. :-) Let us know how you do!

Just three in G Stock, I'm the only Abarth so far, so I'm hoping to be the fastest Italian at least! Other cars are a V6 2004 Mustang and a 2011 VW GTI.

I'm almost certain you'll take those two cars as long as neither are on racing slicks. The mustang will be too heavy. The GTI will push like a pig and be stuck in a precarious RPM in 2nd gear waiting for boost to kick in. You will have the same challenges, but with less turbo lag, and a shorter wheelbase. I think you'll win! I dusted a track-spec R32 2 weekends ago...

Just make sure to try and get the wheels pointed straight as much as possible before getting on the throttle all the way out of the corners. If you get on too soon, you'll be spinning the fronts and only using a fraction of the tire patch. Just eeeeeeeeaaassssse on the throttle and you'll net faster overall times, and also save the tires and keep their heat down. All stuff I'm betting you know already... I'm just excited for you!

Thanks for the tips, this is my 2nd autocross with the Abarth, so I'll be happy to be close to other guys. Getting more experience is my big goal for this year.
