Thought we should start a thread with miles per gallon on the new 500L. I have only used one tank of gas so far------average speed 27mph, mostly in town driving, average mpg 30.5. Very happy camper! Oh and it is an automatic.

That's GREAT! And it should get better over time too, as the engine is broken in.

Thanks for including the average speed too. People will leave out the average speed and/or the length of time, all of which factor into the mpg (at least it does on my regular 500).

There should probably be a whole new big section for the 500L. It'll get confusing after awhile as more people come to the forums and have to try to find the L posts.

I just bought a 2014 Fiat 500L with the automatic. I'm on my second tank of gas. My first tank averaged 27.4 mpg with about equal in town and highway driving. It's been 110+ degrees and I've been told that this turbo engine doesn't get as good of gas mileage when the weather is very hot. Does that sound right?

Anyways, I love this car! My 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan only got 14-15 mpg in town and 18-20 mpg on the highway. So I'm very happy with 27.4 mpg!!!!!!

That's very good to start out; hopefully it will continue to rise as the vehicle is broken in...

I don't think any car gets better mileage in higher temps!

Performance with a turbo is almost always better at cooler temps. 110+* is hot hot hot!!
