Headlights. Does the "eyeliner" light up? How about white out around the eyeliner.

I don't think it does but I made a comment on the "other forum" hinting or suggesting that it should! ;)

Seems like it should, like the lights on some BMWs.

Should and does...not the same. :( I do agree completely though but I want to say when asked in the past the answer was they don't, someday someone will mod them I hope!

Well actually that sucks since they really should.

It means the original info was correct so we know for sure at least, thanks!

It also means that someone, somewhere, thought white eyeliner on a car was a good idea. It's not. They can put white around the actual headlamp, in a circular fashion, and the vehicle then bears more of a resemblance to the 500.

I'm used to it now, but it has no purpose, that elongated white area.

It does have an odd shape to it, but at the least if it were lit up it might be redeem the design choice.

Well then, you know what your next job is, make them light up. I was thinking something along the lines of color changing neon. Which wouldn't be street legal at all.

I can't tell from the photos, but HOW is the area white? Is it something painted on the inside of the glass? Outside of the glass? Part of the light housing? Is it like a separate object that could be customized on it's own, to perhaps match the color of the vehicle or incorporated into the smoky look you've already done?

It looks like separate plastic inside, maybe even reflective the way it comes out in some pics, can be made to look better for sure

If it's reflective, or can be made reflective, I'm all for it. That little bit of extra reflectivity can make the difference between being hit, whether the car is parked or moving along.

There is reflective tape in just about any color, including black. The black tape can be anything from a dull-glow purple-ish tone to a bright white when the light hits it.

This is where I got my tape: http://www.streetglo.net/reflective.tape/

On white cars, the white/silver disappears into the paint, you only see it at night, when needed. I had it on my previous VW Cabriolet. They have all sorts of things in there, and I'm guessing you could have an ongoing custom order done in the elongated shape. Of course, you have to stay away from red for the front end. But I think all most people would want is either the super black that shines bright white (smoky look by day, "can you see me now?" by night), or the white/silver version to make the area stand out at night.

By the way, are your Madness500 stickers reflective? Streetglo could make you some.

Having spent a week with the L now here is some feedback.

We purchased the car for two reasons:

Reason #1 is Rachel and I just had our first child (a baby girl) and her 500c was no longer able to accommodate our needs (so the widebody custom 500c will soon be up for sale) and carry our little girl, her baby seat, stroller and all the other items one has once they have a small child.

Reason #2 we typically invest and purchase a car that we supply product for. This helps with feedback, development and experience. Since we planned to expand our offerings to the 500L it made sense that we purchased the L.

At first honestly we had some reservations about the car and had concerns over performance (since all our cars are upgraded), handling and looks. Rachel really did not want to give up her fun, custom car for the so called "family car".

Well, after one week she and I are sold! She now loves the car!!!

Her first complaint was the slower response time, but that was quickly solved with a new GOPedal that we installed and programmed for the L. Once the guys at the shop installed it she drove it home, walked in and as she did I asked her "How is the GOPedal? Did you feel any difference?"

Her response was "OMG! I love the upgrade! I am going to tell everyone that walks in to the shop that has an L that they have to have it!"

Then we went on to tint the windows and upgrade the interior and exterior lightning. Our MADNESS HID Kit fit the headlight backs perfectly just like on the regular 500, so the car has some really great lights now. We then put together a set of SMD Bulbs for the interior that really made a nice difference.

On Saturday we installed and programmed a MADNESS ECU Module and then handed her the keys. She came back with a big smile and said "Now, this thing MOVES! I love it!" I took the car for a drive and spun wheels by not being used to it." The performance is now up big time!

We used the car over the weekend shuttling our newborn, my father and doing runs to Home Depot. Honestly the car has fantastic visibility, is a nice drive and has plenty of room inside. While it is not an ABARTH the few upgrades we did made a huge difference in performance.

Next up is the following:

We designed a set of custom springs for the car with a mild drop that just got finished for us in Germany and are in route. Once here we will install them on our car and provide feedback.

Several custom wheels are being finished up for the car which we will offer for 500L owners. The goal is to offer wheels that fit correctly, are of great quality and have a look that compliments the car. We are doing a final fitment tomorrow and will have something to show you next week.

A custom exhaust system and intake is also in the works along with a several other upgrades.

We have also been busy with incoming shipments of new 500L accessories which you can now see in our 500L category.

Some other items are also in the works: Custom Seat Covers, Floor Mats, Performance Upgrades, Handling Upgrades, Spoilers and etc...

We will update as things get installed...

I'm one of those folks that is still out to lunch regarding my feelings about light-up car eyebrows. It seems like as soon as Hyundai and Kia saw the Germans doing it to Audis and Volkswagens they've come up with all manner of light-up strips in varying degrees of taste and placement. I think the initial point of the led-power bluish light strips is a high intensity daytime running lamp that is visible to other drivers while consuming less power and producing less bulb-heat. To that end, I think in the 500 and the 500L the placement of such a strip would then either eliminate the need for the lower driving lamp altogether (remember, in Europe the original 500's turn signals are in the headlamp) or at least make it redundant. I'm all for mods, I just wonder how it would look.

Great car, though. I'm very curious to see what you folks do to it. And for the first time in my life, someone posted a photoshopped lowered 500L in another thread and I liked it more than any other lowered car I've seen :)

Our new 500L MADNESS Lowering Springs are in route from Germany and we hope to have them in stock by next week.

Since the 500L is designed to be more of a family car our goal was to design a lowering spring that gives the car a slight drop, improve the handling while maintaining a good ride. We think we nailed it and will be installing the final production version springs on our 500L next week.

Once we do we will post details and pictures.

Our wheels are all done and are now being powdercoated. Once that is done we will get them on the car and post pics.

Next after that will be custom exterior trim and a custom bumper insert to further set it apart from stock.

500Madness: Accent strips for the side of the 500L. The Lounge has the chrome. Other models, especially with the painted roof in white or black, might like to add an accent in the middle of their side strip to match their roof. Or accent colors. Red would be nice on the white vehicle. Glossy, matte, metallic, carbon fiber, textured, patterned, all those could work as an accent, quick and easy to personalize a vehicle.

All the Pop 500Ls have black mirrors, so the black stripe would look harmonious.

You could probably squeeze your logo on the side stripe too.

500Madness:

Another thing to consider are the glossy hard dash replacements in body color like the Pop has and all the regular 500s have. The Trekking only comes with the one interior, and someone just mentioned wanting the body color (yellow) glossy dash. As the yellow is only available on the Trekking this year, that would probably be the one to make, the yellow glossy dash (if you were only going to make one).

Fabric, on the dash, well, I really like the plastic on my regular 500 much better, and it will certainly be easier to clean in the long run. No idea how one is supposed to clean a fabric dash. It'll take one greasy/dirty/muddy/oily hand mark to mar the fabric that won't simply wipe off.

If all the dash panels are the same size, the Pop panels can easily be used, but the Pop only comes in Abarth colors. There won't be a yellow.

Ooh, like the one in the front, but was thinking maybe right below the side windows and keeping the chrome.

Here's a few. I'm working with a very basic (aka crappy) paint program. It was free. I can make straight or curved lines of various sizes. Save them if you like them, as I'll need to go through and delete the pics sometime (there's a maximum number of pics that can be posted before all the pics shrink to a tiny size.

There are a couple of "natural" starting points for the stripes near the window. One is just below the rear view mirror, the other is at the turn signal. The third natural line runs through the door handles, which won't work.

Quick update!

Yesterday our first shipment of 500L Specific Springs came in. Not to waste anytime I approached our Lead Tech Alain and asked "How would you like to be the first to ever lower a 500L? My wife is coming in with the car in 45 minutes and does not know the springs came in. Can you squeeze it in as a surprise for her?"

He looked at me and said "I can move some jobs around and we will get it done!"

Needless to say a short while later the car was done! It complete changed the look of the car. I did not have a chance to snap some pics, but we will get it done on Monday and share. Later last night I had a chance to take the car for a short drive. Wow! It now handles much, much better then stock and the ride is still decent.

Next step are the custom wheels we are finishing up. Pics to come....

Okay, did another one. I'm sorry for the poor quality, but obviously there wouldn't be the "stair steps" on the stripe. LOL

I got the idea from this Camaro stripe:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126712

I liked the way it was thicker and narrowed towards the back. That's what I was trying to do for your 500L. I used that space right in front of the door mirrors, and then ran the narrowing red stripe towards the rear, with this result:
6871

Edit, okay, I think I got it...

I will delete the photo after sbulla and 500Madness have seen it. I kind of want the stripe part at the mirror to be more angled to run in line with the A pillar above.
