Very cool, glad they ARE indeed showing up at dealerships. I will need to check them out.

One thing you demonstrated here is in some angles, the 500L doesn't look nearly as large as it actually is, even when next to the smaller 500.

Thanks so much for the pics! Looks like there were a few people checking out the car while you were there. It JUST GOT THERE and people are interested. A good sign.

In the back view pic, side by side, looks like you could park the 500 in the 500L. LOL! Well, sort of. Like that we still have the two-tone interior in the US. I was pretty sure we wouldn't get the spiffy 500L logo all over the seat, or the dots, or the words. I like the neat Euro fabrics, but it seems the US market likes a lot of grey and black.

The double cargo compartment, how sturdy is that shelf and how does it go up and down? In some photo somewhere I saw they had put a bunch of luggage on the shelf, so I'm guessing it's fairly strong. I like that feature because there is stuff I have in the car that I don't use all the time, like the reusable grocery bags. Those could go on the bottom, and pick out what I need before shopping, putting the groceries on the top shelf. Same thing for people who carry work stuff or car stuff, that all can go on the bottom without interfering with loading occasional stuff.

So many of the people that have commented on my car said it wouldn't work for them, because it's too small. I have the feeling some of those people will check out the 500L.

I may be in the minority here, but for as fresh as the 500 looks, the 500L looks like grandma pants to me.

Well, since the direct comparison will be toward the Mini Countryman, (and even when I had my Mini and was very active in the local Mini club.. I never saw the Countryman as a Mini), I think the lines on the 500L are much nicer. From I've been told the 500L is actually a little longer than a Countryman, yet the interior looks cavernous vs the Mini. The main item being the hood on the 500L is much shorter freeing up more space for the passenger area. I also think the interior looks cleaner than the mini... as far as the 500L vs the 500, all I can say (and it has been said before) you have to see it in person...

oh the people around it were the salesmen who all came out to check it out as soon as it arrived,

I am sure that my impression will change when I see one in person, but there is something to be said about about a car (the 500) that looks good both in pictures and in person, whereas (to me) the 500L looks kinda banal in pictures.

Wonderful! Thanks for the pics. Parked next to a 500, everything looks big. But I'm told that a true sense of the 500Ls proportions can be had by parking it next to a Golf or a Focus, which would more closely match the European class competitors (and parking dimensions) that it is aimed at.
That configuration (the Easy) ... did it have the dot-matrix seat upholstery?

What is the colour of the interior ?

It would appear to be a very light grey.

I think that if this the base configuration, the seat bottoms are black and light grey and the seatbacks are light grey with a pattern of raised grey, white, and red square dots.

No dots.

*Preliminary info I have is black/red or black/grey for the base 500L Pop. That is the very top and leg support on the seats would be grey or red with the seat cushion and lumber area of the seat back being black. This is the preliminary info I received a while back.

Instrument panel would be red/white or black.

Model range is Pop, Easy, Trekking, Lounge.
