Okay, the sudden sound scared me. Oh, how I do adore the big glass roof.

Awesome commercial but I wish they'd come up with a way to block it out when desired, some of us with skin cancer do not want an open path to sunlight!

It has a cover, that's what the previous thread was all about, the sunscreen (solid) for the glass roof. At least for the opening glass roof.

I believe even the panoramic roof has a sun screen to help block the sun as well, just that the roof itself does not open like the actual sunroof does.

Also, I would not be surprised if that glass is heavily tinted to reduce the UV rays coming in, in the first place, like all glass sunroofs are.

I say this as I had a car with a glass sunroof, mind you this was the 1988 Honda Accord I had from 1998-2006, it had a printed metal mesh applied to the underside of the sunroof, along with a fairly dark tint to the glass itself, and it reduced the sun's rays, and the heat penetration (as well as reduce fading) significantly, while still letting in plenty of light while closed.

However, this particular sunroof did NOT have the vent position, as it was not all that common yet in the late 80's for most sunroofs.

It'll be interesting to see how effective the cover is once the car is available to check out locally. :)

Or look at this:

Back portion of the opening style glass roof is covered in that image with the cover. Looks to be solid and completely blocking out of light/sun

I guess they learned from the 500s that are current people do not like holes in the cover! Thanks, I like the new 500L setup far more.
